General Description

A Project Engineer takes an increasingly responsible role in the technical aspect of projects and is responsible for performing technical duties for projects with varying degrees of complexity. Other duties include assisting a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer with client contact, maintaining budgets and schedules, project coordination, project reviews, and technical proposals. Meets all criteria of an Engineer.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer
• Experience in Stormwater or Water, Stormwater drainage, Site design, and permitting experience
• Civil 3D +, Hydrocad, Stormcad
• Familiar with MA Stormwater requirements
• Hydraulic modeling experience highly
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or actively pursuing P.E. registration in MA
• Effective communication/interpersonal skills; ability to direct less experienced staff; strong written and oral skills
• Driver's license required.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, calculations, designs, drawings, specifications, permit applications, and cost estimates on projects under supervision
• Assist in project schedule and budget compliance, report progress, and identify additional work outside scope
• Coordinate with sub consultants under supervision
• Serve as Lead Designer on less complex projects or tasks
• Review calculations and design assumptions for quality control
• Contribute to proposals with scope, budget, and schedule development
• Assist in technical presentations and participate in client meetings
• Monitor own performance within budgets
• Develop expertise in local, state, and federal regulations
• Maintain positive client relationships through regular communication
• Lead fieldwork activities such as surveying, water sampling, and construction observation
• Support construction administration tasks
• Mentor and train junior staff and interns
• Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and related software
• Enhance writing and presentation skills to support technical decisions
