Job summary

rand* construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead on-site project coordination in Charlotte, NC. The SPE will train and guide Project Engineers, coordinate with the superintendent and trades, and support the PM with subcontracts and cost tracking.

The role emphasizes development, collaboration with clients and project teams, and maintaining safety standards while delivering projects for interiors, retail, restaurants and renovations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is preferred.
• Understanding of project management and project sequencing is preferred.
• Familiarity with field trades duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to negotiate with subcontractors is preferred.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills are required.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, building owners, and team members is essential.
• Knowledge of contracts is beneficial.
• Basic understanding of finance principles including job cost, revenue, budgets, and cash flow is desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Procore is expected.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage aspects of a project as directed by PM or SPM.
• Coordinate on-site with superintendent and trades.
• Facilitate trade coordination on site.
• Develop basic project/breakout schedules.
• Train and manage PEs on tasks such as meeting minutes and RFI review.
• Evaluate and manage RFI and submittal distribution.
• Identify cost and schedule impacts through tracking logs.
• Support PM in subcontract creation and administration for MSAs and subcontractor agreements.
• Collect COI requirements and maintain COIs.
• Enforce safety and maintain site cleanliness standards.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices with PM oversight.
• Generate basic estimates for change orders or small service projects.
• Review owner change orders costs with PM guidance.
• Establish relationships with project stakeholders.
• Serve as primary contact for clients and project team on service jobs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
