Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead express design and project scoping activities within the Feasibility Studies Unit. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and four years of progressively responsible experience (or equivalent).
• Professional Engineer license may be required by NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
• Experience overseeing complex transportation projects and managing scope, schedule, budget, quality and risks.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of STIP and non-STIP projects during scoping phase to meet schedule, scope and budget.
• Develop initial scope of improvements, cost estimates and preliminary environmental impact analyses.
• Maintain project schedules, track changes, and identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Communicate status to PM, team, Division and stakeholders; oversee private engineering firms (PEF) and contracts.
