Tom Trese is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for a major heavy civil/FDOT project in Lakeland, FL. The role offers direct-hire, full-time employment with strong compensation and a clear path toward Project Manager.

You will manage RFIs, submittals, CPM scheduling, and FDOT compliance, coordinating with field teams, owners, and subcontractors to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy-civil / heavy-highway projects.
• Hands-on FDOT roadway project experience.
• Strong command of RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and field coordination.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Comfort with scheduling software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Run the RFI and submittal process end to end to keep the project on schedule.
• Drive the schedule with CPM schedules, look-aheads, and risk spotting.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent and crews on sequencing and deliveries.
• Own the numbers: quantity tracking, pay estimates, and monthly owner pay apps.
• Review plans for FDOT compliance and manage change orders.
• Maintain documentation and mentor junior engineers.
