Job summary

JobFormance is seeking a Project Engineer for heavy civil highway and bridge work in the Tampa Bay area. You will support project managers and field operations on roadway, drainage and infrastructure projects, including FDOT work.

Candidates should have 3+ years of heavy civil experience and be willing to spend 20–30% of time in the field. Relocation to Florida is welcome for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering experience on heavy civil, highway, bridge, or utility projects.
• Ability to read plans, specs and contract documents.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• FDOT or DOT project experience is a plus.
• Primavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam experience is a plus.
• EIT or PE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and superintendents on active heavy civil projects.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, drawings, transmittals and approvals.
• Track cost, quantities, production, materials, equipment and schedule updates.
• Schedule work activities and material deliveries.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, cost reports and change orders.
• Communicate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, field crews and leadership.
• Review drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Spend 20 to 30 percent of your time in the field, seeing the work get built.
• Support safety, quality and contract compliance.
