Job summary

South Bay Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will manage project documentation, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, assist with scheduling and budgeting, and ensure compliance with contract documents and safety standards, working closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and project team to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality

Qualifications

• Requires a construction-focused bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Experience in commercial construction environments preferred.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in managing all phases of commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications for completeness and constructability.
• Track project progress and communicate updates to the project team.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; maintain project documentation.
• Support development and maintenance of project schedules; coordinate subcontractor activities.
• Assist with budgeting and cost tracking; monitor change orders and cost impacts.
• Monitor quality, coordinate inspections, and ensure compliance with plans and safety standards.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and support their development.
