Senior Project Engineer
The Senior Project Engineer plays a key leadership role in the successful delivery of construction projects. Having mastered the Project Engineer role, this position manages a small project or a major portion of a larger project with limited oversight, while supporting the Project Manager in financial, schedule, and team leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage a small project or significant scope of a larger project with minimal supervision
- Lead and mentor Project Engineers, interns, and support staff
- Review drawings and specifications; maintain strong knowledge of project requirements
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, schedules, and document control
- Assist PM with budgeting, cost reports, change orders, and monthly billings
- Support buyout process and ensure subcontract agreements, insurance, and bonds are secured
- Collaborate with Superintendent to monitor schedule, identify risks, and resolve issues
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and design teams
- Oversee project closeout documentation and turnover to Owner
- Support safety, QA/QC, and company standards on site
- Participate in Business Development and client relationship efforts as requested
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience
- Strong financial and cost management understanding
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and construction management platforms (CMiC or similar)
- Ability to manage both detailed execution and broader project leadership responsibilities
