Job summary

Westlake in Sulphur, LA seeks an experienced engineer to lead and oversee engineering design for refinery projects, coordinate procurement, and manage capital and expense projects to meet cost, schedule, and scope. The role provides problem-solving consultation and supports engineering personnel development while applying new technology to improve production and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 5 years' experience in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical plant performing Engineering design responsibilities.
• Background screening including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements; TWIC card required.

Responsibilities

• Develops the general plan for a project, prepares a budget estimate, and obtains approval for the plan. Prepares AFE for capital projects.
• Provides a detailed mechanical design in accordance with engineering and safety practices, codes and specifications. Designs instrumentation systems and selects equipment.
• Initiates procurement of materials and coordinates with Purchasing, vendors and stores.
• Directs designers, checks drawings and submits for approval.
• Prepares work descriptions and specifications; issues RFPs for bids and reviews bid comparisons.
