Overview

Senior Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage — Location: Georgia; Employment Type: Full-Time. Our client, a premier renewable energy EPC, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead BESS projects in Georgia. This role will involve working closely with Southern Company/Georgia Power and local AHJs to deliver technically excellent, compliant, and cost-effective projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering phases of BESS projects, from concept to commercial operation.
• Manage interconnection design and compliance with Georgia Power and Southern Company standards.
• Provide technical leadership to internal teams and contractors.
• Conduct technical reviews, approve engineering deliverables, and enforce QA/QC protocols.
• Engage with permitting agencies to secure project approvals.
• Mentor junior engineers to build organizational technical capacity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in utility-scale BESS, solar+storage, or high-voltage systems.
• PE license in Georgia or ability to obtain.
• Experience with ISO/RTO interconnection processes (MISO, PJM).
• Willingness to travel throughout Georgia and the Southeast.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NFPA 855, UL 9540, and Georgia-specific electrical codes.
• Successful delivery of projects exceeding 100 MWh.
