Senior Project Engineer – Autonomous Vehicle Safety

International Motors’ Autonomous Systems and Safety team develops vehicle system behaviors, safety cases aligned with legal standards, and autonomous control concepts. Our work is guided by customer needs, legal and technical standards, and internal specifications for mechanical, electrical, and software components.

The Senior Project Engineer - Autonomous Vehicle Safety supports vehicle systems development, focusing on autonomous technology. The role involves collaboration with global teams, product owners, and engineering groups throughout the product lifecycle, including participating in key meetings and sprint planning.

Responsibilities
  • Represent vehicle functional safety standards in product definition and safety case development, including ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASIL classifications.
  • Define safety artifacts, operation documentation, and safety training materials.
  • Coordinate safety sign-offs with stakeholders.
  • Support system architecture requirements and analyze complex system dependencies.
  • Create documentation to support development processes.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and vehicle systems engineers to integrate safety and security.
  • Support program goals and ensure timely deliverables.
  • Lead or participate in issue resolution during development, validation, and launch.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and problem-solving within the safety framework.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science, with at least 12 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 8 years, or a PhD with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading new or specialized technologies for at least 2 years.
Additional Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
Desired Skills
  • Degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Certifications like CFSE, ISO 26262 training, or TÜV certification.
  • Experience with systems engineering, Agile methodologies, automotive electronics, AI vision techniques, and related tools.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
