Collins Aerospace’s Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) unit in Rockford, IL seeks a Senior Project Engineer who will lead cross-functional teams to implement new pump and gear box technologies. You will manage schedules, budgets, and communications with team members and management, ensuring timely execution and escalation of risks.

The role requires strong fundamentals in machine design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and structural dynamics.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Experience in a production role supporting aerospace rotating equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, purchasing, etc. to implement new products.
• Manage schedule and budget for projects and maintain communication with team and management.
• Identify mitigation plans for impacted projects and pursue cost-saving opportunities.
• Review project and budget status, manage schedules, and prepare reports.
• Coordinate hardware development configurations and hardware modifications throughout development.
