Job summary

Polaris Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the execution of project plans, support proposals, develop schedules, and report earned value. You will act as the essential interface among disciplines and customers to maintain budget and KPI milestones.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10 years of experience in the petrochemical/refining sector, with strong communication, leadership and risk-management skills. Travel for short assignments is expected.

Responsibilities

• Directs development of proposals with the Project Manager.
• Coordinates project engineering activities, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Maintains internal and external interface registers with disciplines and client.
• Ensures that project status reports are updated and distributed.
• Identifies conflicts or risks and develops recovery plans.
• Ensures compliance with Polaris' policies and procedures.
• Delivers contractual obligations and KPI milestones per EPC contracts.
• Collaborates with Project Controls for baselines, progress, forecasts and reporting.
• Facilitates cross-discipline technical issue resolution.
• Leads weekly project status meetings and supports process hazard reviews.
• Develops RFQ responses and tracks major equipment items; prepares bid tabs.
• Fills in for the Project Manager when necessary.

Job description

I. ++SUMMARY OF POSITION:++

Directly responsible for the implementation of the project execution plan and all project execution-related activities, including supporting the Project Manager in developing proposals, schedules, updates, and project reporting. Ensuring accurate calculations for rules of credit and earned value analysis for management and reporting. Provides the essential interface between all disciplines by furthering the inter-discipline coordination and works to maintain and update schedule and budget reporting.

II. ++RESPONSIBILITIES:++

• Directs the development of proposals by assisting the Project Manager.
• Coordinates all project engineering activities, including setting priorities, budgeting, and scheduling
• Maintains the internal and external interface registers between the disciplines and the client
• Ensure that project status reports are updated distributed accordingly
• Timely identifies any project conflicts, project schedule risks or slippages, and consequently develops a recovery plan · Identify and manage project changes, variances and corrective actions, as necessary and on time
• Awareness, understanding and compliance with Polaris' business policies and procedures
• Awareness, understanding and delivery of contractual obligations and key performance indicators (KPI) outlined in the Polaris EPC Contracts and Execution Strategies
• Interfacing and working directly with Project Controls to ensure accurate and continuous performance management of baseline schedules, progress measurement, forecasts and reporting for the various WBS Scopes of Work, and ensuring delivery of key contract KPI milestones
• Proactively facilitates the resolution of cross discipline technical issues.
• Knowledge of and adherence to Polaris' project management systems and procedures relevant to the role Schedules and facilitates weekly project status meetings
• Schedules and participates in the Process Hazards Analysis for projects
• Ensures meeting minutes are taken and recorded
• Developing Requestion for Proposal (RFQ) and tracking for all major equipment purchased items
• Develop Bid Tabs for equipment
• Fills in for the Project Manager when necessary
• Other responsibilities as assigned

III. ++MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:++

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
• 10 experience as a Project Engineer in the Petrochemical and/or Refining Industry sector.
• Preferred experience in an engineering design company
• Competent in relevant technical discipline
• Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Project management skills -- estimating, budgeting and scheduling preferred
• Available for short-term travel
