Job summary

Aerzen USA Corp. is seeking a self-motivated Project Engineer II to lead the technical execution of PSA biogas-to-RNG upgrading systems. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact across the project lifecycle, reviewing process design, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.

You\'ll oversee vendor interaction, manufacturing, and field startup, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with codes. Travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 5–10 years of engineering experience in biogas, RNG, process gas, or related area.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution as the primary contact across the project lifecycle.
• Review, validate, and approve process designs, P&IDs, PFDs, and mass/energy balances for the PSA process.
• Review mechanical drawings, skid layouts, 3D models, piping designs and structural requirements.
• Establish technical specifications, datasheets, and design parameters for major equipment (compressors, blowers, vessels, valves and instrumentation).
• Manage supplier evaluations, coordinate with manufacturers, and ensure vendor deliverables meet requirements.
• Oversee manufacturing, shop assembly, and skid fabrication to verify build quality and code compliance.
• Ensure designs and fabrication comply with safety and environmental standards and ASME/API codes.
• Interface with client teams, project management, field service engineers, and commissioning personnel.

What you will do

We are seeking a self-motivated Project Engineer II who will lead the technical execution and detailed engineering of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) biogas to RNG upgrading systems. This role will serve as the primary technical point of contact across the project lifecycle with responsibilities including review of process design, review of mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment selection and specification, vendor management, and overseeing manufacturing of equipment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Execution: Serve as the primary technical point of contact across the entire project lifecycle for Aerzen’s Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) biogas-to-RNG upgrading systems.
• Process & Piping Review: Review, validate, and approve process designs, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and overall mass/energy balances for the PSA process
• Mechanical & Layout Engineering: Review detailed mechanical drawings, skid layouts, 3D models, piping designs, and structural requirements to ensure constructability, serviceability, and compliance with industry standards.
• Equipment Selection & Specification: Establish technical specifications, datasheets, and design parameters for major system equipment, including compressors, blowers, pressure vessels, valves, instrumentation, and filtration systems.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Manage technical evaluations of supplier bids, communicate design requirements, coordinate with equipment manufacturers, and ensure vendor deliverables meet quality, schedule, and performance specifications.
• Manufacturing & Fabrication Oversight: Oversee equipment manufacturing, shop assembly, and skid fabrication to verify build quality, structural integrity, and adherence to engineering designs and ASME/API codes.
• Quality & Compliance Assurance: Ensure all system designs, fabrication practices, and field packages comply with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and relevant industry codes (e.g., ASME, NFPA, NEC, API).
• Cross-Functional Coordination & Field Support: Interface directly with client teams, project management, field service engineers, and commissioning personnel to resolve technical issues during fabrication, site installation, and startup.

Requirements

Position Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors’ degree required.

Area of Study:

Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred

Experience: (yrs)

5 - 10 years of experience in engineering, preferably in the area of biogas, Renewable Natural Gas, Process Gas, or similar

Competencies:

• Proficient in MS Office programs
• Ability to read drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and other engineering documents.
• Strong communication skills – professional speaking and writing styles.
• Root cause analysis skills – critical thinking ability.
• Experience in AutoCAD, UNISIM, and AVEVA is a plus
• Proven experience in the biogas and RNG industry is a plus
• Must be able and willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
