Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Bagdad, AZ is seeking an experienced engineer to provide technical guidance across all phases of large engineering projects, delivering on time and within budget.

You will review projects, act as SME for site planning/construction, advise management on regulations, and contribute to budgeting and capital funding decisions. A BS in Engineering with 5 years of experience is required; a MS and PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years of related experience in Engineering or related field
• Master's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Skilled in managing large/complex Engineering projects
• Able to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned large/complex Engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.
• Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
• Manage projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modifications
• Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas
• Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests
• May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
• May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor\'s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years of related experience in Engineering or related field, OR
• Master\'s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Skilled in managing large/complex Engineering projects
• Able to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

Preferred

• Strong knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations
• Skills in reviewing, and analyzing Civil, Mechanical and electrical drawings
• Advanced degree or professional engineering (PE) certification
• Experience in cost estimating for projects
• Experience with project financials, including S-curves and AFEs

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$105,000-$145,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
