Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks a Project Director/Technical Director in Los Angeles to lead complex projects, manage key client relationships, and oversee investigations and repairs of existing buildings. The role requires directing teams, ensuring quality, and driving SGH’s standards of technical excellence.

You will mentor staff, participate in business development, and maintain professional industry involvement. A PE or RA and 15+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering (advanced degree preferred) with 15+ years of experience.
• P.E. or Registered Architect (RA) certification required.
• Experience in building façade/curtain wall design or consulting, historic preservation, or waterproofing design.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct complex, high-profile projects with delegated authority from the Principal-in-Charge.
• Serve as primary client contact on major projects, managing scope, schedule, and staffing.
• Provide technical leadership in investigation and remediation of building envelope issues.
• Direct design and construction-phase services across engineers, architects, contractors, and staff.
• Mentor staff and perform peer reviews of plans and deliverables.
