Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks a Senior Consulting Engineer to manage small to medium projects, evaluate repairs for existing buildings, and lead client relationships. Candidates should have PE or RA licensure, 8+ years’ experience, and ability to travel to project sites.

The role emphasizes design, investigation, and mentoring staff, with opportunities to contribute to complex envelopes and building performance projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Architectural Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior staff in design, site investigations, and documentation of existing conditions.
• Investigate and remediate building envelope malfunctions.
• Provide design and construction assistance to contractors and architects.
• Component sampling of envelope components including walls, windows, roofs, and plaza waterproofing.
• Field investigation and water leakage testing of roofing, waterproofing, windows, curtain walls, etc.
• Design remedial repairs to existing building systems.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to staff.
• Peer reviews of plans and specifications.
• Litigation support for related projects.
• Assist during the construction administration phase.
