Job description

A growing energy services company is looking for a Senior Project Developer to help develop and commercialize distributed energy and microgrid projects across the Western US; primarily California as well as Arizona and Colorado.

The successful individual will be a skilled DER / microgrid project developer, commercially minded who can actually own costing, feasibility, development and customer interface.

This is a hands-on development role sitting at the intersection of project development, engineering, commercial strategy and preconstruction.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead costing, feasibility and project development for solar PV, battery storage, backup generation and microgrid projects.
  • Take opportunities from early-stage development through financial close and execution.
  • Coordinate site assessments, equipment selection, utility/interconnection requirements, permitting and construction planning.
  • Develop project estimates, financial models and feasibility studies, including NPV, IRR and project economics.
  • Manage RFPs and vendor relationships, evaluate bids and negotiate commercial terms.
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, operations, finance and legal teams to develop competitive, constructible solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers, utilities, agencies, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve technical, financial and development challenges to keep projects moving.
You'll ideally bring:
  • 5+ years' experience in solar, energy storage, microgrids or related distributed energy infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of project costing, financial modelling and development economics.
  • Experience working across engineering, construction, vendors and customers to take projects from concept toward execution.
  • Knowledge of interconnection, permitting, incentives, utility requirements and regional market conditions.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to make decisions based on project feasibility and economics.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or a related discipline — or equivalent experience.

Experience with HelioScope, AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, Procore or MS Project is a plus.

You’ll have significant exposure to the full development lifecycle and work alongside sales, engineering and operations teams to turn opportunities into real, executable projects.

Travel to customer sites within California, Arizona, and Colorado is required, estimated at 20–50%.
