Job summary

Wenger Corporation seeks a Senior Project Designer for a structured hybrid role in Owatonna, MN. The position requires a 2-year technical college certificate in Mechanical Drafting, 5+ years in product/project design, and expertise in design-for-manufacturing with BOMs.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks, and SolidWorks is preferred. Key daily duties include peer reviews, coordinating with Sales, PM, Manufacturing and Installation, and creating precise 3D drawings with accurate dimensions

Qualifications

• Two-year technical college certificate in Mechanical Drafting or related field.
• 5+ years of product and/or project design experience.
• 5+ years of design-for-manufacturing experience, BOMs, and manufacturing methods understanding.
• Expert-level ability to interpret architectural and mechanical drawings/blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Peer review team projects for drawing accuracy and standards compliance.
• Attend business meetings to review quality reports, improvements, docs, and scope.
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing and Installation to produce custom components.
• Develop drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, and materials per standards.
• Perform 3D solids modeling as required.
• Assist in solving engineering problems to meet project timelines.
• Maintain up-to-date project definitions across design, manufacturing, and implementation.

That’s Wenger Corporation.As a Senior Project Designer, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by providing oversight and collaboration with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of the project lifecycle from planning through completion.**At a minimum, you’ll need:*** 2-year technical college certificate in Mechanical Drafting or related field* 5+ years of product and/or project design* 5+ years of design-for-manufacturing experience, creating BOMs and understanding of manufacturing methods and limitations* Expert-level ability to interpret architectural and mechanical drawings/blueprints.**It’d be great if you also have:*** Familiarity with Project Management techniques and tools; Engineering data management system experience* Familiarity with 2D layout in AutoCAD and exposure to BIM workflow in Revit/NavisWork* Experience utilizing 3D design and modeling, SolidWorks preferred**What you will do on a typical day:*** Peer reviewing team projects for accuracy and consistency of drawing standards, material references and general design oversight.* Attending business meetings related to a specific product line for reviewing quality reports, continuous improvement ideas, product documentation and project scope reviews.* Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Installation departments to define and execute the production of custom project components and systems.* Conceptualizing and developing drawings with properly calculated dimensions, tolerance, and materials in accordance with company standards and practices.
