Job Title: Senior Project Cost Estimator

Location: Los Angeles, CA

STV is seeking a Senior Project Cost Estimator for the Construction Management Group. The role involves preparing and reviewing construction cost estimates, analyzing bids and change orders, and supporting project negotiations and budgeting.

Responsibilities include:

1. Planning, supervising, and participating in the preparation of construction cost estimates from drawings and specifications.
2. Reviewing cost estimates submitted for grants and loans, and representing the District on related matters.
3. Checking and comparing estimates from architects and engineers with District estimates.
4. Negotiating and resolving differences in cost estimates with architects and engineers.
5. Studying and reporting on bids that vary significantly from estimates.
6. Checking contract cost segregations and recommending payments.
7. Analyzing change orders and approving or rejecting extras or credits.
8. Establishing procedures for plan approval and bidding processes.
9. Developing methods for record-keeping of estimated versus actual costs.
10. Conducting seminars on bidding procedures and cost estimating.
11. Estimating damages and establishing budgets for school projects.
12. Supporting other branches and preparing independent cost estimates for negotiations.
13. Reviewing contractor claims and proposals, and performing related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 10 years of full-time professional experience in cost estimation for various types of building construction, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs.
• Experience in developing and estimating scope of work for change orders.
• Ability to compare estimates with proposals and develop detailed scopes of work.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management from a recognized college or university.

Compensation Range:

$87,509.45 - $116,679.27
