Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist to support services projects across the U.S. You will develop complex schedule and cost baselines, collect and analyze monthly data, identify variances, and assist in root-cause analysis while ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

You will coordinate with project teams, maintain risk reserves in forecasts, implement financial controls, and prepare reports for management and clients. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Demonstrates excellent knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities as well as an understanding of project finance, accounting or business administration.
• Ability to independently plan and manage the detailed execution of a construction project by thoroughly interpreting and utilizing contact documents, architectural and engineering drawings, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develops time-phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs and updates requirements as required.
• Monitors progress of project deliverables and actual expenditures versus forecasts; performs performance reporting using Earned Value Management.
• Generates earned value reports and discusses observations with the project manager.
• Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff; may supervise junior engineers.
