Job summary

Ahtna, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls expert to serve as the SME for all project controls activities from cost management to forecasting and reporting.

You will collaborate with project managers and leadership to review data, challenge assumptions, and improve performance across budgets, schedules, and contracts. The role emphasizes independent oversight, adherence to standards, and development of controls processes while supporting complex, high‑risk projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• 10 years of project controls experience in construction, environmental, or infra projects.
• SME or lead/oversight experience in project controls or performance oversight.
• Strong CPM scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and progress measurement.
• Experience validating schedules, budgets, and performance reporting.
• Familiar with fixed price, cost reimbursable, and T&M contracts.
• Experience with Project Managers and operational leadership.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Project; adept with reporting systems.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the SME for project controls including planning, scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and reporting.
• Review budgets, forecasts, EAC, and ETC for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Validate project financial and operational reporting and progress measurement.
• Review CPM schedules for alignment with scope and contractual requirements.
• Identify risks and variances and provide actionable leadership recommendations.
• Provide independent oversight to ensure adherence to processes and contract requirements.
• Challenge projections and reporting to ensure realistic forecasts.
• Support project startup by reviewing setup, cost structures, and reporting frameworks.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to strengthen discipline and forecasting accuracy.
• Lead on high‑risk projects, recovery planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
