Job summary

Deterrence Defense, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to own the schedule and cost baseline for deploying automated production equipment at a partner site.

You will build integrated engineering–procurement–installation–commissioning schedules and track cost performance against budget. The role requires Primavera P6 expertise, earned value management, and strong communication with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience levels: Engineer 3+ yrs; Senior 5+ yrs; Staff 8+ yrs in project controls on large industrial projects.
• Hands-on proficiency in Primavera P6; strong Excel (large datasets).
• Working knowledge of CPM and Earned Value Management with schedule compression/recovery.
• Experience with cost structures on large projects: commitments, accruals, forecasting, change orders, invoice validation.
• On-site in the Dallas area and travel to vendor/partner sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fully integrated, resource-loaded schedules covering design, procurement, fabrication, FAT, shipment, installation, SAT, commissioning, and ramp.
• Status schedules weekly; analyze critical path, float, and overall program performance.
• Build 3-week look-ahead schedules for installation and commissioning; run what-if scenarios.
• Own project cost control: budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, forecast at completion, cash flow, variance analysis.
• Maintain WBS, cost codes, and cost breakdown; report earned value metrics (CPI, SPI, EAC, ETC) with root causes.
• Run change management: log, price, route change orders and budget adjustments; validate invoices.
• Maintain the program risk register with schedule and cost impacts; escalated early.
• Produce concise management reports and dashboards for leadership and partners.
• Support estimating and quantity take-offs for new equipment lines and change scope.
