Job summary

Francis Cauffman Architects in New Haven, CT is seeking a talented and experienced Project Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring 10 to 15 years of architectural experience leading projects from concept through completion across a variety of building types.

Experience in Higher Education, Healthcare, Mixed-Use Residential, and Workplace projects is preferred, with the ability to manage complex requirements, coordinate consultants, and oversee design and construction

Qualifications

• Licensed Architect (Registered) in good standing.
• 8–12 years of professional architectural experience.
• Experience leading projects through all design phases.
• Experience in Higher Education, Healthcare, Mixed-Use, and Workplace sectors.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility, life safety, and construction documentation standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases from programming to construction administration.
• Manage projects of varying scales and complexities with high design quality.
• Supervise project teams and coordinate consultants.
• Provide technical leadership: code analysis, material selections, constructability reviews.
• Oversee construction documentation and BIM model management.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants and attend client meetings.
• Mentor junior staff and promote design excellence.
• Support QA/QC and share best practices.
