Job summary

OSPORTS, a division of Osborn Engineering Company, is seeking a Project Architect to lead technical development for sports and entertainment facilities in a collaborative team.

The role covers design, documentation, code research, budget and schedule management, and coordination with clients and consultants. Candidates should have a architecture degree, 6+ years of experience, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam; licensure a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture with 6+ years of project architect experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, construction systems, and site requirements.
  • Licensed Architect (NCARB) a plus; active license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documentation and delivery of architectural documentation from concept through construction.
  • Research code requirements and feasible design solutions.
  • Manage budget, work plan, consultants, and schedule.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and team on deliverables.
  • Lead technical development and project documentation.
  • Construction administration including submittals and RFIs.

Since then, we have designed and engineered numerous sports architecture icons including Yankee Stadium (1923), Fenway Park, Municipal Stadium, and Ohio Stadium just to name a few. Today our Sports practice focuses on the design of athletic facilities and entertainment venues.

OSPORTS is looking for candidates with experience in working on high profile and unique architectural projects in the areas of Sports Architecture, Entertainment and Public Assembly. As our practice grows, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Project Architects to join one of our existing neighborhoods. This key role will engage all areas of our practice including planning, programming, design & visualization, and lead the project’s technical development and documentation of their projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Documentation and Delivery of architectural documentation for projects from conception through construction.
  • Research code requirements and ensures feasibility of design solutions.
  • Follows and manages project budget, work plan, consultants, and schedule.
  • Communicates with Project Manager and other project architects regarding key deliverable dates.
  • Creates design solutions to meet client specifications.
  • Creates Project Manual and Specifications.
  • Maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Team.
  • Acts as an intermediary between the client and the architectural team.
  • Promotes communication through team meetings, minutes, and up-date memos to project team including consultants.
  • Ensures project documentation is in compliance with company standards.
  • Coordinates team effort to complete a project promptly and successfully, while ensuring that the team is working effectively and keeping to the schedule and budget.
  • Construction administration including processing of submittals, RFI’s, and other project documentation during construction.
  • Provides office leadership including professional development coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Consistently reviews work and communicate needs and concerns to project staff.
  • Defines staff requirements for projects as needed or directed.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Travel and overtime may be expected.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
  • Must have 6+ years of project architect experience within one or more of the following fields: Sports (stadiums, arenas, ballparks, practice facilities, master planning, and collegiate facilities).
  • Must have strong understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems, and site requirements.
  • Registered Architect w/ active license, NCARB certified is a plus.
  • Ability to provide efficient and elegant 2D and 3D design solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to have a solid working relationship with clients.
  • Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Guide design, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Understanding of architectural building systems.
  • Proficient in current version of Revit – required.
  • Proficient in AutoCad – required.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam - required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project – preferred.
  • Proficient in Photoshop – preferred.
  • Proficient in LEED – preferred.
