HireIQ in New York seeks a Project Accountant to manage project accounting from budgets through closeout. You’ll work with project teams, ensuring accurate costs, cash flow, and financial performance with clear reporting.

The role reports to the Controller, overseeing multi-project accounting, monitoring budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations. After 90 days, you may work one day from home; the company supports ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of accounting experience, including construction project accounting.
• Strong understanding of job costing, project budgets and financial reporting.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
• Ability to interpret construction contracts and investigate financial discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Sage Intacct and Procore experience would be advantageous.
• Accounting or finance degree preferred.

Responsabilités

• Manage accounting and financial reporting across multiple construction projects.
• Monitor budgets against actual costs, investigate variances and support forecasting.
• Prepare and review project cash-flow and revenue schedules.
• Reconcile project costs and ensure billing deferrals are correctly classified; review financial terms within contracts and trade billing schedules.
• Produce reports for internal teams, owners and agencies.
• Coordinate project and subcontractor closeout.
• Support process improvements and the development of junior accountants.
