Job summary

J. Shaw Enterprises is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to manage accounting for development and construction projects across multiple locations.

The role serves as the primary liaison to the D&C leadership and requires office presence 3+ days a week. Responsibilities include lead accounting for projects, managing budgets and cash flow, processing lender draws, reviewing invoices, and preparing monthly financial reports using Procore and MRI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in construction or development.
• Proficiency with Excel and project accounting systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the accounting lead for all development and construction projects within the assigned portfolio.
• Help establish and reinforce best practices in project accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
• Import developers' budgets into Procore and assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating project budgets, including hard costs, soft costs, and contingencies, while tracking and forecasting cash flow.
• Track and assist in managing budgets, commitments, invoices, and actual costs across multiple development projects.
• Draw processing to the lender or funds; prepare and submit lender draw requests with all required documentation.
• Review and validate contractor/vendor invoices, contracts, and change orders; coordinate approvals with VPs, contractors, and accounting teams.
• Track submissions through funding and reconcile draw proceeds against project budgets and accounting records.
• Process vendor payments promptly after funding; maintain regular communication with lenders.
