Job summary

Nichols Contracting, Inc. (NCI) in Columbia, MD is seeking a Project Accountant III to oversee full-cycle accounting for complex commercial construction projects.

You will manage job cost tracking, prepare intercompany reconciliations, and review invoices while ensuring contract terms, retention, and change orders are accurately applied. Work with project managers, estimators, and operations staff to develop budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete projections using Procore and Sage 300 CRE,

Qualifications

• Experience in full-cycle project accounting for commercial construction is required.
• Strong understanding of contract terms, retention, change orders, and billing structures is essential.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software and Excel for data analysis is needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle project accounting for multiple construction projects, ensuring accuracy in job cost tracking and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations staff to setup/manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete projections in Procore.
• Review/Approve job-related cost invoices and ensure correct cost coding in TimberScan.
• Oversee monthly intercompany cost reconciliation (NPS Labor) and prepare monthly owner billings in Sage and ensure compliance with contract terms.
