Jobot is seeking a Senior Project Accountant in Saint Paul, MN for a permanent, on-site role. Manage all project accounting from startup through closeout, ensuring accurate cost reporting and financial forecasting for a robust commercial construction portfolio.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction accounting, deep knowledge of job costing, WIP, and GAAP, and proficiency with Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, or Sage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project forecasting.
  • Experience supporting commercial construction or specialty contracting projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting best practices.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all project accounting functions from project startup through closeout.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and financial performance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate job cost reports, WIP schedules, and financial forecasts.
  • Review subcontractor invoices, vendor billings, lien waivers, and payment applications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist project managers with cost tracking, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Process owner billings and support accounts receivable collections activities.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities related to assigned projects.
  • Track contract changes, change orders, retainage, and contingency usage.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, company policies, and accounting procedures.
  • Support audit requests and assist with preparation of financial documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, payroll, and executive leadership teams to provide timely financial reporting and analysis.
