Job summary

Ledcor's Financial Operations team in Reno, NV (hybrid) is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to ensure accurate, timely reporting of project financial information. You will partner with project leadership to deliver insights that drive performance and profitability.

The role covers AR, subcontract administration, payroll, AP, month-end close, forecasting, and analysis, with responsibilities including cost control, invoicing, and equipment billing to support project success.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Post-secondary business degree.
• Experience within commercial construction, telecom or related industry preferred.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction methods.
• Financial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, ROI and profitability analysis.
• Working knowledge of construction accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of construction software systems.
• Strong analytical skills and problem solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

As a Senior Project Accountant, reporting to the Project Controller, you'll play a key role in the financial success of major projects by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of project financial information. Working closely with project and operational leadership, you'll provide valuable financial insights that support decision‑making and drive business performance.

In this role, you'll take ownership of a broad range of project accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, subcontract administration, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month‑end activities, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. You'll collaborate with project teams to ensure data is accurate, complete, and actionable, while helping identify trends, risks, and opportunities that contribute to project success.

Essential responsibilities:

• Analyze project costs and provide insights to support strategic decision‑making
• Implement and maintain cost control systems to ensure projects stay within budget
• Comprehend and communicate key commercial terms of project contracts to all relevant parties
• Effectively report project financials and interpretations to leadership for decision‑making
• Contribute to the development and implementation of collective agreements affecting project costs
• Collect and submit necessary documentation (e.g., statutory declarations, WCB clearance letters) for invoicing
• Prepare and submit Letters of Engagement/Monthly Invoices (LEMs) to clients in accordance with the terms
• Gather third‑party invoices to support accurate and timely client billing
• Prepare and submit monthly equipment rental billings, progress invoices, and manage holdback releases
• Process and reconcile electronic billing submissions, ensuring alignment with client billing systems

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Must have a post‑secondary business degree
• Must have Experience within commercial construction, Telecom or a related industry is preferred
• Must have knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP is preferred
• Working knowledge of construction methods
• Financial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, equipment capital decisions, and profitability analysis
• Working knowledge of construction accounting principles
• Working knowledge of construction software systems
• Strong analytical skills and problem solving
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Work Conditions

• This is a hybrid position which will be comprised of some work from home flexibility and in‑office attendance
