Job summary

Ledcor Group seeks a Senior Project Accountant to own a broad range of project accounting duties, including AR, subcontract administration, payroll, equipment time entry, AP, month-end activities, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. You’ll work with project teams to ensure data accuracy and uncover risks and opportunities for project success.

The hybrid role is based in Denver, CO, with responsibility for major projects across North America.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar project accounting role.
  • Experience in commercial construction, telecom or related industry preferred.
  • JD Edwards or similar large ERP knowledge preferred.
  • Strong grasp of construction accounting principles and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project costs and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Implement and maintain cost control systems to ensure projects stay within budget
  • Comprehend and communicate key commercial terms of project contracts to all relevant parties
  • Effectively report project financials and interpretations to leadership for decision-making
  • Contribute to development and implementation of collective agreements affecting project costs
  • Collect and submit necessary documentation for invoicing
  • Prepare and submit Letters of Engagement/Monthly Invoices to clients
  • Gather third-party invoices to support accurate client billing
  • Prepare and submit monthly equipment rental billings, progress invoices, and manage holdback releases
  • Process and reconcile electronic billing submissions, ensuring alignment with client billing systems

Job description

As a Senior Project Accountant, reporting to the Project Controller, you'll play a key role in the financial success of major projects by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of project financial information. Working closely with project and operational leadership, you'll provide valuable financial insights that support decision-making and drive business performance. In this role, you'll take ownership of a broad range of project accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, subcontract administration, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month-end activities, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. You'll collaborate with project teams to ensure data is accurate, complete, and actionable, while helping identify trends, risks, and opportunities that contribute to project success. Essential responsibilities
  • Analyze project costs and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Implement and maintain cost control systems to ensure projects stay within budget
  • Comprehend and communicate key commercial terms of project contracts to all relevant parties
  • Effectively report project financials and interpretations to leadership for decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of collective agreements affecting project costs
  • Collect and submit necessary documentation (e.g., statutory declarations, WCB clearance letters) for invoicing
  • Prepare and submit Letters of Engagement/Monthly Invoices (LEMs) to clients in accordance with the terms
  • Gather third-party invoices to support accurate and timely client billing
  • Prepare and submit monthly equipment rental billings, progress invoices, and manage holdback releases
  • Process and reconcile electronic billing submissions, ensuring alignment with client billing systems
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Must have a post-secondary business degree
  • Must have Experience within commercial construction, Telecom or a related industry is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP is preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction methods
  • Financial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, equipment capital decisions, and profitability analysis
  • Working knowledge of construction accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of construction software systems
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Work Conditions

This is a hybrid position which will be comprised of some work from home flexibility and in-office attendance.

Compensation

$75,600.00 - $103,950.00 This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
