Job summary

HireIQ is partnering with a large, established New York construction and development organization to hire an experienced Senior Project Accountant. You will own the accounting and financial management of multiple projects, including job costing, budgets, billing, draws, and cash flow.

Work directly with Project Managers to identify financial risks and ensure project profitability. This role offers hybrid flexibility after an initial 90-day period, exposure to major New York construction

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience in construction or project-based environments.
• Strong construction accounting and job-costing knowledge.
• Experience with project budgets, billing, draws, commitments and change orders.
• Experience with construction or real-estate accounting systems preferred.
• Ability to independently manage the financial side of multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting and financial management of multiple projects.
• Perform job costing and project financial reporting.
• Manage project budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Handle construction draws, billing, and subcontractor payments.
• Oversee commitments, purchase orders and change orders.
• Monitor WIP and project profitability analysis.
• Prepare lien waivers and project documentation.
• Support cash-flow monitoring and month-end close.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify financial risks.
• Support project closeout activities.

The Role

You will take ownership of the accounting and financial management of multiple projects, including:

• Job costing and project financial reporting
• Project budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
• Construction draws and project billing
• Subcontractor invoices and payments
• Commitments, purchase orders and change orders
• WIP and project profitability analysis
• Lien waivers and project documentation
• Cash-flow monitoring
• Reconciliations and month-end close support
• Project closeout
• Working directly with Project Managers to identify financial risks and issues

What They Need
