Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a Senior Project Accountant in Chicago, IL to own project cost accounting for multiple construction projects and provide robust financial reporting. You will partner with PMs and leadership to manage budgets, variances, and revenue recognition, while ensuring compliance with government contract requirements.

Ideal candidates have a 4+ year background in construction accounting, a related degree, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of construction project accounting or job cost accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, and subcontractor billing.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Federal government contracting experience preferred.
• CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus.
