Job summary

Holmes Murphy seeks a Senior Programs Underwriter to join the Innovative Program Solutions team in West Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on building a profitable IPS portfolio, negotiating terms, and collaborating with agents, brokers, and carriers to deliver differentiated risk solutions for clients.

The position requires 5–7 years of underwriting experience, active P&C licensing or ability to obtain it within three months, and a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and client service

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma; college degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting or relevant insurance experience.
• Licensing: Active state-specific Property Casualty Insurance agent’s license required or ability to acquire license within three months of hire.
• Skills & Technical Competencies: Deep expertise in program and insurance principles; client-focused with carriers and agents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and negotiate price, coverage terms and conditions for new and renewal business.
• Collaborate with agents and brokers and align with carrier appetite and IPS guidelines.
• Manage and underwrite an IPS portfolio of business.
• Conduct program reviews, audits, and performance assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and delegated underwriting authority agreements.
