Job summary

Amwins is seeking a Senior Underwriting Specialist to review accounts and determine acceptability within underwriting authority. You will price and underwrite accounts, negotiate with carriers, and support sales staff in developing business.

This role offers remote options and hybrid work for local candidates, with a focus on building relationships with agents and brokers and serving as a primary interface between carrier and broker networks.

Qualifications

• Requires four-year college degree or equivalent designation.
• Good oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; insurance curriculum is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new and renewal program business within guidelines; reviews applications, coverages, exposures, and pricing.
• Negotiates pricing and coverages with producers, brokers, or agents.
• Acts as primary contact for agents and brokers; interfaces between carrier and agents/brokers.
• Initiates new business development with assigned agents; processes proposals and bindings.
• Coordinates with rating, engineering, claims and other departments as needed.
• Reviews and adheres to company underwriting authority; escalates matters outside authority.
