Job summary

The Senior Program Manager at Columbia University Irving Medical Center will independently coordinate and manage the Resources and Services team within the Irving Institute, supporting NIH-funded translational science programs and CTSA efforts. You will work with Institutional leadership to integrate four research programs and three functions, ensuring delivery of services and program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required and 4 years related experience.
  • Six years’ experience in academic medical setting.
  • Master’s degree in management, public health, or related degree.
  • ACRP or SOCRA certification.
  • Experience working with SPSS, SAS, or R.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and project management, written and verbal communication, and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.

  • Partners with the Irving Institute’s Strategic Management Team on the identification, development, demonstration, and dissemination of all programs and activities.
  • Serve as the liaison to facilitate communication between the Resources and Services team and the Strategic Management Team.
  • Work within the Resources and Services team in collaboration with the Strategic Management Team for identification and stakeholder engagement, development of team activities, demonstration and evaluation, and dissemination.
  • Manage data collection, management, and program evaluation in close collaboration with the ECQI Unit.
  • Assist with the development of questionnaires and additional surveys for evaluation of translational science and research optimization projects.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all internal meetings to drive the research agenda forward and maintain detailed records of meeting minutes, agendas, and action items
  • Lead preparation and drafting of presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
  • Prepare IRB applications, modifications, and annual IRB renewals for translational science projects as needed.
  • Manage ongoing record-keeping of grant activities ensuring deliverables are met and track outreach and dissemination activities.
  • Develop and implement uniform and effective processes and systems across programs and translational science research projects.

Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University\'s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Co-Directors of the Resources and Services, and Irving Institute Senior Administrative Leadership, the Senior Program Manager will work independently and proactively towards the implementation, coordination and management of the research support Resources and Services team.

The Irving Institute is home to Columbia University’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), which was launched by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2006 and has expanded to over 60 academic medical institutions across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Co-Directors of the Resources and Services team and directors and managers of the Irving Institute to coordinate research programs, services and resources, and functions. This includes the integration across four research programs (Clinical Research, Data and Design, Research Cores, Dissemination and Implementation) and three research functions (Research Navigation, Research Optimization, Research Personnel Training).
  • Partners with the Irving Institute’s Strategic Management Team on the identification, development, demonstration, and dissemination of all programs and activities.
  • Serve as the liaison to facilitate communication between the Resources and Services team and the Strategic Management Team. Serves as the point of contact for the Director of Clinical Research Informatics, Vice Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, and Vice Dean for Clinical Trials to help ensure connectivity to institutional clinical research initiatives and services.
  • Work within the Resources and Services team in collaboration with the Strategic Management Team for identification and stakeholder engagement, development of team activities (programs, projects, initiatives, events), demonstration and evaluation, and dissemination.
  • Manage data collection, management, and program evaluation in close collaboration with the Evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement (ECQI) Unit. Assist with the development of questionnaires and additional surveys needed for evaluation of translational science and research optimization projects.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all internal meetings to drive the research agenda forward and maintain detailed records of meeting minutes, agendas, and action items
  • Lead preparation and drafting of presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
  • Prepare IRB applications, modifications, and annual IRB renewals for translational science projects as needed.
  • Manage ongoing record-keeping of grant activities ensuring appropriate deliverables are being met and track and record all outreach and dissemination activities.
  • Work with program and administrative managers of the Irving Institute to fully execute Irving Institute goals and missions. Work with other research administration leaders to assist in institutional programs.
  • Develop and implement uniform and effective processes and systems across the programs and translational science research projects.
  • Performs other tasks as required and assigned within scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in education and experience required and 4 years related experience.
