Job summary

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is seeking a Program Manager to lead comprehensive program plans, schedules, budgets and technical performance for SBIR programs.

You will provide leadership to engineering, design and production teams, manage customer relationships and ensure adherence to performance requirements. The role requires experience managing complex programs, strong written and verbal communication, and proficiency in program management practices; MS Project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Engineering or Sciences or other technical degree strongly preferred; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Technical experience in optical or infrared sensors, optics, materials, systems engineering or electronics.
• Experience managing complex program across multiple disciplines, including engineering, production, subcontractors, sales and marketing.
• Skilled and experienced in managing-through-influence in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Creative, critical thinker; able to anticipate problems and propose timely solutions.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills; public speaking and presentation skills required.

Responsibilities

• Generates, manages and coordinates comprehensive program plans, schedules, budgets and technical performance for SBIR programs.
• Provides leadership and direction to the engineering, design, and production teams for program deliverables; sets and manages project expectations with team members and stakeholders.
• Maintains intimate awareness of technical performance requirements and enforces disciplined reviews to demonstrate compliance.
• Ensures technical diligence flows to sub-contractors and suppliers and validates sourced sub-assemblies.
• Interacts with customer program stakeholders to provide status and understand requirements; manages the relationship.
• Proactively manages changes in scope, assesses risks and builds contingencies into plans.
• Works with engineering, procurement, production, quality and vendors to align work plans with program goals.
• Supports proposals with costing, schedules, labor estimates, and technical writing/editing; conducts kickoff meetings and reviews.
• Manages multiple programs (5–10) totaling $10–15M in annual revenue.
• Makes programmatic decisions with input from technical staff; understands and manages risks.
• Works with Accounting to maintain ETCs, EACs and spend plans; coordinates with Finance on labor.
• Provides monthly program updates to senior management.
