Job summary

Saab AB in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Principal Program Manager to lead profitable execution of large-scale defense development programs in the Surveillance division.

The role requires managing cost, schedule, and technical performance while driving EVMS, developing budgets, and pursuing new business opportunities. You will collaborate with Sales, Product Management, and engineering to deliver competitive proposals and grow customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of Program Management experience, $50M – $100M+ program lifecycle in aerospace/defense.
• Extensive experience negotiating multi-million dollar agreements with large Aerospace and Defense customers.
• Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and defense business capture efforts.
• Advanced knowledge of program management standards and best practices (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).
• Ability to contribute to development strategy and lead strategic initiatives in support of functional and business objectives.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of program and business.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned program portfolios.
• Establish and control program budgets aligned with program needs.
• Ensure all projects are managed within approved PM processes.
• Make personnel recommendations in support of business objectives.
• Drive EVMS principles and report program status internally and externally.
• Identify and pursue significant new business opportunities.
• Develop competitive proposals and collaborate with Sales, Product Management, and engineering.
• Grow relationships with customers and large primes to deploy Saab technology.
• Provide leadership to program execution staff for high-quality products and services.
• Monitor and guide junior PMs to ensure on-time delivery and performance.
