Job summary

Saab AB in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Principal Program Manager to lead profitable development programs in the Surveillance division. You will oversee cost, schedule and technical performance for large radar programs, with EVMS reporting and cross-functional collaboration to win new business.

The role requires 10+ years in aerospace/defense program management, strong negotiation, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of Program Management experience, $50M – $100M+ program lifecycle in aerospace/defense.
• Extensive experience negotiating multi-million dollar agreements with large Aerospace and Defense customers.
• Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and defense business capture efforts.
• Advanced knowledge of program management standards and best practices (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).
• Ability to contribute to the development strategy and lead strategic initiatives in support of functional and business objectives.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of program and business.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned program portfolios.
• Establish and control program budgets aligned with program needs.
• Ensure all projects within the program are managed within approved processes.
• Make personnel recommendations in support of business objectives.
• Drive Earned Value Management principles and use EVMS to report status.
• Identify and pursue significant new business opportunities and grow customer relationships.
• Develop competitive proposals and collaborate across functions for execution.
• Provide leadership to program execution staff for high-quality products and on-time delivery.
• Monitor junior PMs to ensure delivery of essential outcomes and retain talent.
