Job summary

SpaceNews is seeking a Deputy Program Manager in Albuquerque, NM to oversee control accounts across scope, schedule, and budget. The role requires strong EVM knowledge, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration on complex programs.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of program management experience, DoD/DoE contract exposure, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. This on-site position emphasizes rigorous analysis and effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, project management, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years' program management experience.
• Expert level Earned Value Management (EVM) experience on DoD or DoE contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, schedule, and budget for assigned control accounts.
• Negotiate scope of work and document outcomes in the WBS Dictionary and WAD.
• Negotiate schedules and lump-sum budgets for control accounts and update WAD as needed.
• Subdivide control account work into targeted work packages for effective management.
• Work with program scheduler to maintain resource-loaded schedules.
• Ensure resources do not exceed budgets and identify EVMS techniques.
• Document time-phased, resource-loaded activities and EV measures as baseline.
• Provide weekly insight into remaining durations and resource needs.
• Conduct weekly plan reviews, including variance analysis and ETC assessments.
• Develop and implement corrective actions while maintaining baseline integrity.
