Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle seeks a Senior Program Director for Housing and Homeless Services to lead Community-Based Housing in King County. You will supervise program directors, shape the program vision, and work with the leadership team to interrupt trauma and help youth reach their full potential.

You will oversee prevention, navigation, rapid rehousing, and scattered-site housing contracts, reporting to the Executive Director of the Y Social Impact Center. Hybrid Seattle/Auburn operations.

Qualifications

  • BA degree or higher in psychology, social services or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience with high-risk, system-involved youth or young adults.
  • 4+ years of staff/volunteer supervision, program development, and budget management.
  • Experience with youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Senior Program Director, Housing and Homeless Services, will lead all of the Y Social Impact Center's Community Based Housing in King County. This position will report to the Executive Director of the Y Social Impact Center, work collaboratively with the Y Senior Leadership Team, and work closely with the Housing and Homeless Leadership Team to set the Housing and Homelessness programmatic vision, philosophy, and approach to meet our mission of interrupting trauma and providing a pathway for all people, especially young people, to reach their full potential.

The Senior Program Director, Housing and Homeless Services will oversee all Community-Based Housing programs and contracts serving youth and young adults at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Community-based Housing program areas include Prevention Services, Navigation Diversion, Rapid Rehousing, and scattered-site Permanent Support Housing. The position directly supervises program directors who oversee programs and staff.

This position is at the Social Impact Center Y, the social services branch of YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS). The mission of the Social Impact Center Y is to accelerate young people’s ability to build safe, successful, and happy lives. Every year, we serve 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs that aim to strengthen young people’s ability to develop to their fullest potential through four strategies: reducing risk factors; navigating systems towards successful life transition; ensuring stability, safety and wellness in times of crisis; and building competencies and social capital.

The Social Impact Center Y's programs include housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, violence prevention, education, and employment. Many of the young people we serve have had involvement in the foster care, criminal justice system, and/or homelessness systems.

Hiring Range: $108,000-115,000/yr

Schedule: This is a full-time hybrid position. This position is expected to be in-office at least 2 days per week with in-office locations in Seattle and Auburn. Hours of work and days are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older
  • BA degree or higher in psychology, social services or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 6+ years of professional or volunteer experience working with high risk, system involved (homeless, justice, behavioral health, foster care) youth and/or young adults or equivalent community-based or informal service to this youth/young adult population
  • 4+ years of experience with staff and volunteer supervision, program development, and budget management.
  • Experience with and knowledge of youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.
Intermediate Computer Skills And Experience With Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to visit sites and community organizations.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Life experience with poverty, child welfare, homelessness, behavioral health, or youth violence and a desire to use that experience to improve the lives of others.
  • Master's degree related to non-profit leadership (public administration, social work, business or related field).
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
  • Trained in performance excellence standards, including such Project Management Professional, Pathways to Excellence or Lean.
SUPERVISION EXPECTATIONS
  • Responsible for Managing and overseeing specific employees, ensuring they meet organizational standards and objectives while adhering to company policies. Directly managing the day-to-day performance of staff, hiring, monitoring workflows, addressing performance issues and employee concerns.

Essential Functions
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise program directors who oversee multiple contracts, ensuring budgetary and programmatic compliance. Provide development and leadership.
  • Establish new program activities and expand program(s) within the community in accordance with the Association and Branch strategic plans.
  • Advises the YSIC Vice President and YSIC Senior Leadership Team on key decisions related to the housing and homeless services programs of the organization in alignment with the strategic plan, agency vision, mission, and values.
  • Seeks new strategic opportunities to stabilize and grow housing and homeless services programs, including researching new grant opportunities, building relationships with funders and partners, and leading the development of grant applications.
  • Leads the integration of youth voice into programming, including feedback on existing programs and guidance in establishing new programs.
  • Compile program statistics and provide data and reports as required. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program(s).
  • Provide leadership and support for YSIC leadership team with project management and additional support.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools and agencies related to family support programs.
  • Develop, produce, and distribute program information necessary to promote programs, in accordance with branch marketing plans.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are compliant with YMCA, contract, accreditation, and all relevant regulations and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure high quality programs through innovative program development evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
