Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a seasoned leader to manage a team of early career engineers within the Operations Engineering group. You will oversee staffing, budget, merit compensation, performance evaluations, and cross-functional collaboration with tech leads to drive improvements and ensure test yields meet product requirements.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years' experience in manufacturing or test environments, and the ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience leading a team or project.
• Experience in manufacturing, product and/or test environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.
• Experience with data analysis or Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
• Experience with electronics/electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or computer programming.
• Possess CORE understanding (willingness to achieve CORE Professional or beyond).

Responsibilities

• Staffing, budget, training, and timecards management.
• Provide input on merit compensation and interface with Leadership.
• Lead a team of early career engineers and guide task quality.
• Drive PD cycle with Section Manager inputs and HR functions.
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and mentoring.
• Be primary backup to Section Manager and manage task execution for direct reports.
• Ensure timekeeping and adherence to budgeted hours.
• Represent Operations Engineering to factory and program stakeholders.
• Improve test processes through predictive metrics and RCA actions.
• Collaborate with Tech Leads to strategize and build a high-performing team.
