Job Summary:

As the Senior Production Technician on the Plant Operations team, your focus will be on mentoring and transferring skills to junior Production Technicians and leveraging advanced equipment operational and maintenance skills. You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hydropower plant equipment and systems, providing guidance and support to the team. Your insights will be instrumental in shaping our company's future and advancing our mission of clean energy transformation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and oversee the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of hydropower generation stations.
  2. Take charge of complex maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs on turbines and associated equipment, offering technical expertise and guidance to junior technicians.
  3. Supervise gate changes as instructed and ensure accurate documentation.
  4. Monitor and report conditions, instrument readings, and data during periods of significant runoff, making critical decisions to optimize plant performance.
  5. Coordinate and execute station and dam operations while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
  6. Identify, diagnose, and oversee repairs of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical system issues, providing technical recommendations.
  7. Implement a comprehensive equipment quality assessment program and report issues adhering to company standards.
  8. Act as a contractor monitor when required, reporting to supervisors or project managers, and mentor junior technicians.
  9. Ensure compliance with HSSE policies and foster a safety culture within the team.
  10. Adhere to operational requirements and procedures, providing guidance and training as needed.
  11. Respond adaptively to changing situations, emergencies, and priorities, setting an example for junior staff.
  12. Utilize enterprise resource planning software for accurate time and expense records.
  13. Be available for overtime, on-call duties, and after-hours support as needed.
  14. Work flexibly across multiple stations to promote team cohesion and efficiency.
  15. Mentor and train junior technicians to enhance their skills.
  16. Set and achieve professional development objectives aligned with organizational goals.
  17. Promote and embody the company's core values, fostering a committed team environment.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  19. Candidate must be willing to travel within a 90-minute radius of their home plant, with potential overnight stays for support of other plants in the region.

Qualifications:

  1. 2–5+ years of hydropower operations experience; rigging, lifting, welding skills preferred.
  2. Technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience required.
  3. Proven troubleshooting skills and relevant experience necessary.
  4. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and stay overnight for company business.
  5. Experience in team leadership and working independently or collaboratively.
  6. Extensive electrical repair and maintenance experience on hydro turbines, generators, and related systems preferred.
  7. Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems, and PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
  8. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics is advantageous.
  9. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including MS Outlook, is beneficial.
