Job summary

Michelman is seeking a General Summary Team Leader, Production to oversee daily production operations, coach operators, and ensure safety, quality, and adherence to procedures. This role acts as equipment and area owner and steps in for the Production Supervisor as needed.

You will lead batch manufacturing across cold blend, emulsion center, reactor and related areas, ensuring on-time schedules and continuous improvement. Strong leadership and safety focus required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on chemical manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience supervising production teams and coaching operators.
• Knowledge of safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in a chemical plant.
• Ability to train new hires and lead shift teams in absence of supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Act as equipment and area owner; assume duties in absence of Shift Supervisor.
• Analyze production performance gaps and develop corrective action plans.
• Assign staff to areas according to schedule and priorities; make real-time decisions.
• Complete transactional work orders and material movements in ERP and related systems.
• Ensure utilities readiness for unit operation (e.g., heat exchangers, boilers).
• Follow SOPs to safely operate Reactors, kettles, mixers, and related equipment.
• Drive culture-building initiatives and foster teamwork and safety on shift.
• Load, unload, and package materials; complete all required documentation.
• Manufacture batches per work orders and adjust as needed to meet specs.
• Mediate conflicts among operators and escalate issues as needed.
• Monitor process parameters, record data, and escalate abnormal conditions.
