Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a Senior Production Planner for its Industrial Solutions hub to orchestrate master production scheduling across supply chain, production, and engineering teams. You will translate forecast demand into actionable plans and drive optimization of inventory and production flow from the new data center-focused facility.

The role requires a Bachelor’s preference, Associate’s degree minimum, and 5+ years in planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute production schedules aligned with demand, capacity, and material availability.
• Adjust production plans based on changes in demand, constraints, and priorities to ensure on-time delivery.
• Monitor production performance, open orders, and backlog with adherence to targets.
• Identify and resolve production issues such as shortages and scheduling conflicts using root cause analysis.
• Ensure timely release and execution of production orders in SAP and maintain data integrity.

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Production Planner role, you will coordinate with our supply chain, production, operations, engineering, and customer service teams to develop and maintain the master production schedule and ensure alignment with business objectives. You will develop and execute the production plan, determining priorities and implementing strategies to optimize inventory and support plant operations. You will also collaborate closely with the supply chain function, taking into consideration forecasted demand for finished goods and requirements for semi-finished materials to ensure continuity of production and supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute production schedules aligned with customer demand, capacity, and material availability
• Manage and adjust production plans based on demand changes, material constraints, and operational priorities to ensure on-time production and delivery
• Monitor production performance, open orders, and backlog, ensuring adherence to the production schedule and customer service targets
• Identify and resolve production issues such as material shortages, capacity constraints, and scheduling conflicts, applying root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
• Analyze capacity utilization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance workload and optimize production flow
• Ensure timely release and execution of production orders in SAP, maintaining alignment with the production plan
• Maintain accuracy of planning data within ERP/MRP systems, resolving exceptions and improving data integrity
• Manage material requirements through production planning to support optimal inventory levels and minimize excess and obsolete stock
• Develop and analyze reports on production performance, schedule adherence, and planning accuracy, driving continuous improvement of operational KPIs
• Communicate effectively with supply chain, production, quality, and customer service to ensure alignment and issue resolution
• Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies
• Communicate and enforce safe work procedures

What We're Looking For

• This position requires an Associate's degree. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience required
• Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding planning and scheduling
• A certain degree of creativity, experience and judgment is required to plan and accomplish goals
• Ability to perform a variety of complex tasks simultaneously
• Must have working knowledge and MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Must have working knowledge of MR/ERP systems and planning tools
• Possess ability to communicate verbally and maintain concise and accurate written documentation
• Effective listening skills are required
• Must have able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• SAP experience strongly preferred
