Job summary

BorgWarner Arden facility in Western North Carolina is creating a new state-of-the-art hub for power generation systems for data centers and microgrid applications. This role covers manufacturing engineering for special projects, production lines, cost reductions, and continuous improvement from day one.

You will drive assembly line improvements, lead changes for long-term safety, and work with vendors to enhance equipment and processes.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience required; non-automotive preferred.
  • Vision system programming experience required.
  • DC electric torque systems experience required.
  • Lean principles with demonstrated application required.
  • Understanding of APQP process required.
  • High-speed balancing of flexible rotors experience is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Minimum 2 years managing large capital equipment projects within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with new project costing and financial analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to standard manufacturing practices.

  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Identify and close safety issues and corrective actions.

To perform the manufacturing engineering function for special projects, production lines, cost reduction, and continuous improvement thru analytical approach. Develops and implements assembly line improvements & process controls, while following required safety and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to processes, methods and controls and product design. Ensure safe working practices are designed into all processes. Interacts with all levels of the organization as a team to produce and be accountable for desired results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and documents effective cost reductions on time.
  • Specifies and executes machine purchases including verification of machine quality, performance and effect on process.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization, frequently participating on or leading cross functional teams.
  • Works as part of cross functional group for new program launches, cost improvement activities
  • Works within design procedures of ISO and Quality Systems
  • Participates in customer project reviews
  • Willingness to travel to equipment vendor location
  • Maintains project status reports for scheduling
  • Assures adherence to standard manufacturing practices
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Communicates and enforces safe work procedures.
  • Identifies and closes safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • This position requires a BS degree in an Engineering discipline. A BS degree in Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of experience is required, non automotive is preferred.
  • Vision system programming experience required
  • DC electric torque systems experience is required
  • Leak testing experience is preferredUnderstanding of lean principles with demonstrated application is required
  • Understanding of the APQP process with demonstrated application is required
  • Experience with high speed balancing of flexible rotors is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP system is a plus.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing large capital equipment projects within deadlines is required
  • Demonstrated experience with new project costing, involvement in financial analysis is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
