Job summary

BorgWarner Arden campus is seeking a Production Planning Intern to support day‑to‑day planning, scheduling, and supply chain activities in a manufacturing environment. The role provides hands‑on exposure to planning processes, material flow, inventory management, and cross‑functional coordination with production, procurement, logistics, and engineering teams.

You will work to improve data accuracy, planning efficiency, and operational effectiveness, collaborating with teams to optimize plans.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• MRP System experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in production scheduling and planning activities (daily/weekly schedules).
• Support material planning activities including demand vs. supply analysis.
• Help maintain and improve planning data accuracy (BOMs, routings, lead times).
• Analyze inventory levels, shortages, and excess material.
• Support supplier performance tracking (on time delivery, lead times).
• Participate in cross‑functional meetings with production, purchasing, and logistics.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to planning and supply chain.
• Document processes and create standard work where applicable.

Job Purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting‑edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

The Production Planning Intern will support day‑to‑day planning, scheduling, and supply chain activities within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on exposure to production planning processes, material flow, inventory management, and cross‑functional coordination. The intern will work closely with production, procurement, logistics, and engineering teams to improve data accuracy, planning efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
