Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Senior Production Planner to translate midterm to long-term plans into a weekly schedule at our Phillipsburg, NJ site. The role requires close collaboration with supply network, inventory planning, and operations to balance capacity and demand across the near term.

Qualifications

Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Senior Production Planner to translate midterm to long-term plans into a weekly schedule aligning near-term requirements with capacity availability and addressing imbalances. Production planning must keep constant contact with supply network and inventory planning, operations, material planning and finished goods planning teams. This is done in order to understand any potential issues that may appear which may impact capacity schedules (such as labor shortages, supply shortages and nonroutine asset maintenance).

This is a full-time position based out of our Phillipsburg, NJ location.

How you will thrive and create an impact:
  • Monitor demand and capacity for the purpose of generating a weekly schedule that meets customer requirements and addresses any imbalances.
  • Work closely with finished goods planning and material planning teams to ensure proper coverage and accurate schedules.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality and Warehouse and Shipping teams to address constraints, or opportunities. Addres collaboratively and escalates as appropriate.
  • Make adjustments to the production schedule to accommodate near-term customer orders that differ from the agreed sales and operations planning (S&OP).
  • Identify Supply Response imbalances and addresses appropriate re sponse.
  • Anticipate potential issues by comparing demand with supply in the short term and midterm.
  • Leverage new product introduction plans from research and development and/or new product innovation teams into production plans.
  • Use and maintain current capacity planning systems to create the best capacity schedules using established processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What we're looking for:
  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Logistics Management or related field.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years production planning experience.
  • Familiarity with the standard demand planning system features like best-fit/what-if analysis, class/characteristic identification.
  • Certifications: APICS certification preferred.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Problem solving techniques training, i.e., Lean, Six Sigma.
  • SAP and ERP experience desirable.
  • Ability to understand and complete projects and tasks as assigned ; follow process & procedures.
  • Computer skills, including PowerBi and Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow directions accurately.
  • High interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions and work independently.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented attitude.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $78,000.00 - $125,350.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
