Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech in Ann Arbor, MI seeks a Production Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on optimizing production, improving quality, reducing costs, and driving productivity with strong safety standards.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, new product introductions, and collaboration with Design, R&D, and Operations to ensure smooth production ramp, process validation, and KPI-driven performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field; Master’s preferred.
• 12+ years in hands-on production environment.
• 10+ years leading manufacturing development projects.
• 4+ years in a leadership role.
• Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience; Lean cert preferred.
• Experience with CAD, ERP/MRP, and SPC.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, train, and develop a team of production engineers.
• Set clear performance goals with ongoing feedback and development.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Utilize lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies.
• Monitor KPIs to improve operations and ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with Design, R&D, and Operations to transition new products to production.
• Develop and validate manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.
• Oversee production equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance.
