Job summary

Rocket Lab in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Senior Production Engineer I to develop and maintain processes for building advanced solar panels for space applications. You’ll support the Panel Engineering Manager and production teams, delivering technical guidance and performance data for leadership and investors.

You will champion manufacturing processes, bridge technical and operations teams, and drive process improvements while ensuring reliability on orbit.

Qualifications

Attention to detail and previous demonstrated experience with writing technical instruction documents.
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or sufficient equivalent experience.
5+ years related experience supporting a manufacturing line in a technical role.

Responsibilities

Function as the technical champion of our manufacturing processes, solving problems in real-time with Operators and Technicians.
Be the liaison between the technical/process parts of the business and the operations/execution arm on the production floor.
Proactively remove hurdles from those executing manufacturing processes and maintain an environment where manufacturing operators and technicians can excel.
Develop understanding of solar cell manufacturing methods and materials used in space-grade solar panels.
Develop a working knowledge of processes like gap welding, fixtures, and additive manufacturing for high throughput assembly.
Train operators on equipment use and provide guidance and daily support for successful operation.
Collaborate with engineers and managers to improve existing processes and expand capabilities.
