Qualifications

About you and this role

As a Power 8 Senior Production Engineer located in Oyster Creek, TX , you will serve as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products. You have broadened conceptual and working knowledge and experience in job discipline to perform a range of work assignments.

Power 8 is a 440MW co-generation facility with three GE 7EA gas turbines and a 200MW ABB steam turbine. The plant was built in 1994 and is owned by theFreeport PowerLimited Partnership, but fully operated by Dow under contract. This arrangement requires the incumbent to become familiar with the contracts and interaction with the owners of Power 8.

This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027. At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates Oyster Creek and Plant A steam supplies to ensure uninterrupted supply
  • Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem solving skills and technical expertise.
  • Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
  • Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
  • Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering. Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in engineering, manufacturing or related fields.
  • Must be willing and able to travel ~5% annually and meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide.
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Cogeneration Systems: This role involves working with a co-generation facility. The candidate should be adaptable and eager to learn about these systems.
  • Gas Turbines: The candidate will work with three gas turbines. They should have a strong desire to learn and grow their knowledge in this area.
  • Steam Turbines: This role includes working with a steam turbine. The candidate should be motivated to learn and adapt to steam turbine operations.
